Fav Five

Hello Everyone,

I had to share my favorite five January and February products that I frequently use to stay smart, youthful and beautiful, so let get started.

1. Apple iPad, I absolutely love the iPad, it allows me to go from business to playtime and Siri (He, I use the male voice) gives me mad crazy assistance. He finds whatever I need at the command of my voice. I wish I has a live assistant like Siri.

2. Mac Lipgloss Brilliant A' L'evres in Select Sprinted, this lipgloss is amazing, it gives me great shine and long lasting wear.

3. Poo-Pourri before you go toilet spray, bruhhh! This lavender vanilla (It also come in a rose scent) scented spray really works when you poo. All you do is spray the toilet bowl 3 times before you go and the natural essential oils eliminate the bathroom odor before it begins, so when you leave the bathroom it smells better than you found it.

4. CoverGirl Queen Collection 3 in 1 all day flawless foundation has great coverage. It evens out my skin tone including the large birth mark I have on my left cheek and neck.

5. Nivea Smooth Sensation Body Lotion (Not pictured) for dry skin is simply amazing, the shea butter and hydra IQ gives me deep and long lasting moisture for the harsh drying winters here in Chicago.

Footnote: In the picture you see the CoverGirl Queen Collection Natural Hue Concealer.

My Journey

Okay y’all, I have been uber busy.  Let me wipe the sweat from my forehead, get myself a glass of wine, and have a sit down with my laptop.

My journey in 2014 has been a whirlwind.  I moved from Long Beach California to Boynton Beach Florida; where Boynton Beach became my home for the last 2 years and 2 months.  I settled in making myself comfortable.  One year later, I was hit with unbelievable news after my breast exam.  I was told, “You have a mass behind you left breast areola.” By Dr. Stewart, I didn’t take to well to this upsetting news.  Yes, I cried, but I immediately got over it, because I had been through this before.  I finally, made the appointment with my doctor 2 days later for a biopsy to find out if this mass was cancerous or not.

A week later on September 10, 2014, I went in for my biopsy, and oh, Lord! It was the most painful outpatient surgery I have ever endured, but in the end all was well.  Several days later I found out that the non-cancerous mass was only a fatty tissue… God is amazing!

After receiving that great news; I told my Dr. Stewart with a joyful heart, “I’ll see you in 6 months.” Lol
From all the joy, pain, blood, sweat and tears in the last 2 years and 2 months. I had decided that it was time to go home to Chicago;  at that point I realized that I’m a gal of many seasons with winter being my favorite, and November my month of celebration , and November 20th the day that your girl was destining to be in Chicago to celebrate her birthday, so here I am… Hehe!

Smooches!!!

7-Year-Old Hero: Child Shot Protecting Mom

I had to recall this story that touched my heart. I believe it happened in December 2007.  I was inspired by the actions of seven-year-old Alexis Googins.  I'm sadden, because I've witnessed celebrity talk-show hosts like Steve Harvey, Oprah, Ellen and Queen Latifah rewarding people for their heroic actions. Why wasn't 7-year-old Alexis Googins recognized for her heroic actions? I realize this is old news, but here's the story:

DETROIT — As the gunman was about to open fire, 7-year-old Alexis Goggins lunged from the back seat of the SUV and threw herself across her mom, crying, "Don't hurt my mother!"

Six bullets from the 9 mm handgun slammed into Alexis, one piercing her right eye. Two slugs hit her mother.

Alexis' mother pulled through. But two weeks later, Alexis lies in critical condition, blind in one eye. And to her classmates and many people in this city so depressingly familiar with violence, the little girl is a hero.

"She was trying to save me," her mother, Seliethia Parker, 30, said Monday. "My baby is just an angel to her mother. I thought as the mother, I'd be saving my child. I never thought my daughter would be saving me."

Alexis has undergone three operations since the shooting, and her mother sits by her bedside at Children's Hospital of Michigan.

As for the mother, she was seriously wounded, with one slug grazing her head and the other entering her chest and stopping just short of an artery. But she was released from the hospital just a few days later.

Parker's former boyfriend, Calvin Tillie, 29, an ex-convict on parole, was arrested in the shooting and charged with two counts of assault with intent to commit murder, along with other offenses. He could get life in prison.

Alexis is learning-disabled and lags behind other youngsters her age. As a result, police say it may never be known whether Alexis meant to shield her mother from the bullets with her body. But Parker said that if her daughter hadn't put herself in between, "I really don't know. We might have been dead."

Mother recalls relationship
Parker said she met Tillie earlier this year and called off the relationship after three months, but he had other ideas. "He was harassing me," she said. "He would constantly call my house, popping up in the middle of the night."

Shortly after midnight on Dec. 2, police say, Alexis and her mother climbed into their friend Aisha Ford's vehicle for a late night birthday get-together for Ford's mother. The girl got into the back seat, and her mother took the front passenger seat.

Tillie, who had been standing outside the house in the shadows despite the cold, jumped into the back of the SUV, next to Alexis, and forced Ford to drive at gunpoint for several harrowing minutes until the woman convinced him she needed to stop for gas, according to an account the women gave police.

Ford told police she tried to stall for time while pumping gas. As she and the station attendant called 911, several shots erupted from inside the vehicle. Police say the girl had jumped toward her mother in the front seat.

Parker bolted from the SUV, screaming. Officers found Alexis curled beneath the steering wheel in a pool of blood. Tillie was arrested at the scene.

His attorney, Kim Basen Michon, asked for a psychological evaluation for Tillie. The lawyer was on vacation and could not be reached for comment Monday.

Child is a 'fighter'
In addition to losing her right eye, Alexis was shot in the chin and jaw. Several days after the shooting, the little girl, her face horribly swollen and wrapped in bandages, stirred and squeezed her mother's hand.

"She is doing much better," Parker said. "She opened up one eye. Everything seems to be going great."

In Alexis' special education classroom at Campbell Elementary School, her classmates have named a stuffed toy with pink ears "Hero."

"We didn't want Alexis' spot to be vacant, so she's got a sweet bear to sit in her place until she comes back," said her teacher, Angela Lang.

Alexis suffered a stroke before age 1 and has epilepsy. Her teacher showed off a journal revealing strides Alexis had made in writing over the past few months. What started as an illegible series of lines had evolved into distinct letters: A, L and E.

"I know she can do it. There's no stopping Alexis," said her mother's cousin, Tonya Blockett-Colbert. "It may take her a little longer now because of this. But she is a fighter."

The Side Effects of Him

The smart, witty, beautiful, sexy, and adventures diva Keydra Braxton stepped on the scene at Eci Magazine; where she took over as the new Editor/Chief Director. Heads definitely turned when she entered the office flashing that gleaming smile and swaying those thick curvy hips, wearing a lavender fitted dress, and beige stilettos. She was greeted by her tall, very handsome red-hair, 6'1 Assistant Winter Austin.
"Hello, Ms. Bee, girl! you look fabulous today!"
She smiled looking him up and down. "Thank you, you're  looking pretty hot in that yellow suit... Sir!"
"Thank you, gurl! You know how I do it. Fashion is my everything,"
he giggled; as they walked down the corridor to her new corner office. Winter closed the door behind them, Keydra walked around her desk and fell into the huge leather chair kicking off her shoes.  The room fell silence for a moment, but Winter broke the silence by saying, "so, Ms. Braxton how was your weekend, gurl!"
"It was amazing! I joined this single social site."
"Really, did you meet a man, gurl?"
"Yes, I did," she smiled.
"What is his name, and what does he do for a living?" pursing his lips.
"His name is Pryce, he's a music producer," she chuckled.
"Ok... And!!!"
"We had been talking a few days.  We had an amazing connection. Our first meeting was on Spango."
"Really," raising his eyebrows.
"Yes, I was afraid to do Spango, because I like to meet people face to face, but I agreed to meet and chat with him on Spango.  Winter, I swear we instantly had a connection, after talking for hours."
"What happened? Are you still seeing him?"
"Hell no, he was a complete loser, after our third date."
"That's a problem, honey."
"Yes, but our first date was great! He called me on Valentines Day. He wanted to meet at the casino for dinner and cocktail," she said.  (Keydra enjoyed having a daily cocktail; it was her first love to being in the presence of a man, and if she had to choose one; she'd go for having the cocktail.)  She continued.
"When I arrived at the casino. I was looking for this tall sexy brutha, but instead he was much shorter than I had expected," she paused.  "But he was fine," raising her eyebrows, they laughed.
"Gurl, get to the good stuff." Winter said.
"Ok, so we had dinner, drinks, drinks and more drinks. We gambled with his money; of course."
"And," he said with anticipation.
"I'm too embarrassed to tell you this part, but I'll tell you anyway," she giggled.
"What?" His eyes lit up.
"We went back to his place. We had more drinks, and that last drink really turned me on to him. We had sex," she whispered.
"Gurl! You had sex with this man? I hope you used a condom?"he said with an intense look.
She looked at him with fear in her eyes, because she had lied. She told Him that she had used a condom, but she didn't. "Yes, of course; I did," she frowned.
"Ms. Braxton, what's wrong? You did use a condom," he paused.  She shook her head.
"Well, how was his love making?" He tee heed.
"Amazing," her eyes glowed, "Now get out of my office, so I can do some work," she said humorously.  Winter got up, and left her office.
Keydra hated herself for letting this happen, and lying to Winter about the use of a condom.  She had had several sexual encounters with Pryce without using a condom, but her truth was that she had contracted the aids virus from Pryce, but that was something that she would live with; as long as she continued her treatments, and kept the aids virus a secret.  She love Winter, because he has been a long time friend, but she will never tell him the truth.
Keydra Braxton lived her life as a normal businesswoman; as Editor & Chief Director of Eci Magazine; alone with her best friend and Assistant Winter Austin. Pryce had dead after three years of battling aids.

Hamilton

It was a beautiful afternoon as I jogged through Grant Park.  I stopped to get a drink from the water fountain, as was I gulped down the water to soothe my thirst. I could see a shadow of someone standing there waiting for his turn to get a drink of water too.  I stopped drinking and looked up, and to my surprise; there was this amazingly handsome guy standing there observing me.  I was over whelmed by his deep dark eyes and that smile. I stepped back to let my eyes roam over this masculine specimen, giving him his turn to have a drink as well, but he refused, so I continued jogging.  I had jogged the distant, but once again I ran into this handsomely strange man again, only this time he stopped me by saying in a deep voice; “You didn’t give me the opportunity to introduce myself.”  I gave him a strange look and then I said; “Okay, and you are?” sarcastically.  “My name is Hamilton.” I gave him a slight smile, indicating that I really didn’t care. I told him that I was pleased to meet him, but not really meaning it, as I went on my way, but he continued to follow me.  As I jogged, he jogged beside me whispering something under his breath. I looked at him out of the corner of my eyes to see what type of kookiness he was on, as I speeded up.  I could sense his anger flare up inside him, as he struggled to catch up with me.  I stopped with a powerful force and turned around looking dead into his angry eyes; as he laughed loudly and walking away, but then he came back with such a force picking me up slamming me into the hard concrete knocking me unconscious.

I had finally come too, but I was groggy and my vision was blurred, but I could see that I was in a dimly lit room.  I could hear what sound like an orchestra playing, so I sat up in the double king size bed as I let my feet touch the warm floor, when I noticed a person sitting across the room, I jumped back; placing my hands on the bed.  He glared at me with a glow that lit up the room.  I quickly glance around the room shifting my eyes from side to side and then back on him.  Fear came over me, as my heart started racing when he asked me my name.  I softly said Yolon, because I didn’t know what to expect, but suddenly an ease came over me, as I stared into the deep dark eyes of this strange appealing man.  I closed my eyes to fight the feelings that suddenly consumed my body, for a man whose name I only knew as Hamilton.  The more he stared at me the more I desired to have him as my body became warmer and warmer.  I felt the need to shed my clothes off layer by layer, because the heat was ripping through me like fire.  I wiped the sweat from my forehead, licking my lips to remove the dryness. I became overwhelmed by the heat as I fell into a deep sleep.

I had awaked hours later feeling as though I had become one with this stranger, whom I knew absolutely nothing about.  I peeped under the cover where I laid nude; I jumped out of the bed and run to the shower.  I showered for more than an hour trying to wash away what I thought had happened.  After showering I quickly wrapped myself inside of one of the huge towels that was hanging from the hook.  I stared at myself in the mirror hating myself for what had happened.  I fell to my knees crying and screaming to the top of my lungs.  I didn’t care if he heard me or not, but I just had to get it out of me.  I cried and cried then finally pushing myself up from the floor.  I walked back into the enormous size room, scrambling around the room looking for my clothes, when suddenly he was standing there handing me the outfit of his choice, which was a short black dinner dress.   I snatched the dinner dress from him dashing into the dressing room where I allowed these strange women to dress me; sadly enough the dress fitted my curvy body perfectly.  I came out of the dressing room looking amazing.  I had was hoped that he had left the bedroom, but no he was standing there looking at me with his desirable eyes, as I joined him hand and hand as we walked down the stairs together to where the dining room was lit with candles and the dinner table was set amazedly beautiful with a plate setting for eight, but it was only the two of us.  I suddenly felt like a queen having dinner with her king, as the butler filled my glass with champagne.  Hamilton stared at me from across the table as I cut into the lamb chop on my plate; slowly bring it to my mouth.  He smiled as I chewed the lamb, allowing the tasty favors to melt in my mouth, because I was starving.  We finished our dinner with not at word, but our eyes connected each time I looked across the table at him.  He then rose from his chair walking over to me reaching for my hand.  I looked up at him giving him my hand; hating every moment of our time together.  We walked down this long corridor that lead to a huge ballroom, where I could hear orchestrated music coming from the room.  He opened the double doors to where this room sparkled from the gigantic crystal chandelier and ice scriptures that decorated room.  The ballroom was glinting with pure bliss, as he took my hand and twirled me on to the dance floor, where we danced around the ballroom floor until dawn.  I was amazed by the compassion that poured from the heart of this man, his delicate touch and soft spoken voice had won me over.  I desired the need to forgive him for his harsh way of taking me away from my life.

Day light peeped through the windows as I run back to the enormous size room strip out of the evening dress and heels, throwing on a tee-shirt, jeans and knee high boots.  I then ran down the stairs to make my escape, but there was no need for that, because Hamilton was standing at the bottom of the stairs with his hand extended, and I once again gave him my hand as he led me to an open terrace where the smell fresh strawberries filled the air.  He pulled out my chair; I sat down taking in how charming Hamilton really was.  We looked into each other eyes from across the table, but I let my eyes fall to the brick terrace floor.  He continued to stare at me telling me that he had a surprise for me.  He then walked me to the front door where on the outside he had provided me with a get-a-way car, which was the most amazing vehicle a Maybach 62 to exit his life forever.  I kissed him on the cheek as he held me tightly in is arms refusing to let me go, but I finally pulled myself away from him, jumped into my car and headed toward the bridge, waving goodbye to Hamilton forever, but at the end of the bridge was a Lake.  I looked back at Hamilton standing in the driveway through the rearview mirror.  I took my eyes off the rearview mirror, thinking to myself have I really escaped from Hamilton, as I plunged the vehicle into Lake.  The vehicle floated slowly to the bottom, as my breath was leaving body, I could hear a splash… To be continued

Older Women Are Making a Connection with Younger Men

As I have walk the streets of the beautiful Chicago and many other places that I have been, all you can see in today's sociality are older women on the arms of very young attractive men. I have found this to be true with couples like (Vivica Fox & Omar White, Demi Moore & Ashton Kutcher, Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon, Gabriel Union & Dwayne Wade and many more), so I have decide to dig deeper as to why?  I went out to get the low down by talking to women 35-55 for the answers as to why older women are dating men 18-30, at any rate I wanted to write this story from my prospective and here’s what I found. Now here’s what I can say; I was told that if it was food it is the most delicious thing an older women can ever encounter.  Older women are dating younger men, because they are feeling healthier, sexier & vivacious.  They know exactly what they want in a younger man.  These older women are looking for a plumber who knows how to lay pipe and be very open minded about it.  They want to have fun and experience fantasies that they know a younger man can give them.  They want to see a body that is desirable and that will make them feel sexy & hot on the inside.

Now don’t get it twisted ya’ll, because the older men are just as sexy & cute too, but it is said that a younger man is that man of steel and that is what makes the older women feel like she’s 21 all over again, and this is a feeling that drives them crazy knowing that, this yummy package (younger man) is all hers.  Now that’s not shocking to me at all, but I am amazed by the excitement in the voices of these older women as we talked to me about having a younger man in their lives … Lol   Now I can also say from my own experience being with a younger guy was okay, but it wasn’t my cup of tea… But that’s a whole nether story!

In other words the younger women are being beat out by the sexier & vivacious older women, these women are saying; “If he wants me; and I want him too.”  Despite the fact that they are older and more mature, these women are also making second statement by says; “Move over Ms. 21, because Mrs. 45 is coming for Mr. 25 too… So don’t be a hater.”

But you can definitely believe that these younger women don’t like it and they are calling these types of women… “Old A** COUGARS.”

But let’s face it ya’ll; the older women & younger men are hooking up, so you better get used to seeing it, but one thing for sure these younger men are enjoying being with a older women just like the older women are enjoying have them… Call it a new trend if you like.

You heard it from me… Hea’vona

Faith Did It

When I am faced with the end of a task after 6 weeks of hard work my faith get even stronger, because I know that there is something much better awaiting my appearance. I am far from being discouraged by loss of a job, because my faith instills in me that my confidence assures me that what I hope for is surely going to happen; by no means should I be concerned about what lays ahead for me. My faith is built on meditation and stillness. I trust God to lead and guide me through my daily walk of life. I am often face with optical and hurdles, but I never let it stop me from pressing forward to a better opportunity. Life as I see it ofters blessings and curses. My faith guides me toward the blessings that follow after righteousness when I listen to my inner spirit. My faith allows me to enter into the presence of God knowing that He hears my every word; as Iwait patiently for His answer. I remind myself of God's power and the faith within me as I pray and believe God for His directions and unique gifts that he has for me.

My divine strength and energy feels me to the maximum of my faith in doing what God has instructed me to do. When I finally receive the answer from God I can make a positive choice in my everyday life. The thing about my life is that I may experience both loss and opportunity, but it is my faith that will reveal success.

we have to understand that it is our faith that keeps us in a positive frame of mind. We have to have a strong sense to trust God when we want to accomplish the impossible. It is our faith that works when we are faced with fear, doubt and confusion. It is our faith that will let us stay in control of our actions. I know it sound farfetched and it is easily said than done, but this is the key; when we meditate it builds our faith from it's lowest point to it's highest point, so that there will be no feelings of doubt that you are not capable of accomplishing whatever you set your mind to do. We have to learn to trust our faith, because it will never steer us wrong when we stand firmly in our belief to have more then enough.

My faith has allowed me to make an amazing choice in writing this story. Through my faith it has given me the best life ever and I am thankful. Faith did it for me and I know without a doubt it will do it for you, so start right now on building a strong foundation of faith for yourself, because having faith works. Faith did it for me...

Jesus said to them, because of your unbelief; for assuredly I say to you, I you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain move from here to there, and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you. Matthew 7:20

Who care for us and guide us. You can feel her love and gentleness as she walk through life beside us.

She do great things for us every day, she whisper in our ear, she even hold us in her heart. when we are filled with all our fears. She is always there to give a hug and make us smile. She treats others like her child.

God blessed me with an ANGEL who has pasted away, but I'm proud to call her my own. She's been with me throughout my life, been with me as I've grown.

Black History in Chi-Town

Black History should not only be honored in the month of February, but it should be celebrated year round for the black people who have fought the good fight of faith to pave the way for our Black History future. Chi-Town has a lot of blackness to salute and honor starting with our President of the United States Barack Obama, First Lady Michele Obama, Our Black Troops, The late Mayor Harold Washington, Mayoral Candidate Carol Moseley Braun, The late President of Cook County Board John Stroger, and my former Gym Teacher and now County Commissioner Williams M Beavers, my Pastor H Daniel Wilson of Valley Kingdom Ministries, The late Great Walter Payton of the Chicago Bears, and Rappers like Common & Kenya West, Actors & Actresses Lorenz Tate and Sherry E Shepherd, and Singer Jennifer Hudson.

There are hundreds of other honorees that we can and should pay homage too, like myself Mary Hemphill Creator & Writer of In Hea’vona’s Words, so let’s stand and salute the Chicagoans that I have found to be amazing people in celebrating this month of Black History.

Salute

The Storm Is Coming

Mann! Today here in Chicago it is said that the storm is coming, and everyone is going crazy. Why? Maybe because when the storm come it is real and natural and at times more real than we can image, so fear of the storm may leave us feeling unsettled, insecure about our safety and worried about tomorrow, but just like the storm came it will pass like all of the other ones, because God will not put more on us than we can bare, so stand in your stillness as the storm pass… And fear not

My 5 Favorites For The Month of May

Hello Everyone, I know, I've been MIA on the blogging scene but, ya'll know, I had to share my 5 favorites for this month. I ...
