Black History in Chi-Town

Black History should not only be honored in the month of February, but it should be celebrated year round for the black people who have fought the good fight of faith to pave the way for our Black History future. Chi-Town has a lot of blackness to salute and honor starting with our President of the United States Barack Obama, First Lady Michele Obama, Our Black Troops, The late Mayor Harold Washington, Mayoral Candidate Carol Moseley Braun, The late President of Cook County Board John Stroger, and my former Gym Teacher and now County Commissioner Williams M Beavers, my Pastor H Daniel Wilson of Valley Kingdom Ministries, The late Great Walter Payton of the Chicago Bears, and Rappers like Common & Kenya West, Actors & Actresses Lorenz Tate and Sherry E Shepherd, and Singer Jennifer Hudson.

There are hundreds of other honorees that we can and should pay homage too, like myself Mary Hemphill Creator & Writer of In Hea’vona’s Words, so let’s stand and salute the Chicagoans that I have found to be amazing people in celebrating this month of Black History.

The Storm Is Coming

Mann! Today here in Chicago it is said that the storm is coming, and everyone is going crazy. Why? Maybe because when the storm come it is real and natural and at times more real than we can image, so fear of the storm may leave us feeling unsettled, insecure about our safety and worried about tomorrow, but just like the storm came it will pass like all of the other ones, because God will not put more on us than we can bare, so stand in your stillness as the storm pass… And fear not

The strangest look

It was 10am Friday morning when Alana arrived at Killen Corporation, as she walked through the glass doors she spotted a dashingly handsome guy, while walking up to the receptionist. “Hello my name is Alana; I’m the replacement for Mrs. McGinnis. “Okay, please have a seat over there and someone will come out to get you. Alana smoothed down her dress down walking slowly over to the seating area. Alana dimmed her eyes darting them around the room waiting patiently. Five minutes had passed as Alana peeped at her watch poking out her lips, when finally that dashingly handsome guy appeared in front of her. “Hello, I’m Carter” extending his hand to shake Alana’s hand. Alana looked him up and down shaking his hand as this strange feeling come over her when their hands connected; she looked into his deep dark eyes, saying softly: “Hello, I’m Alana.” “It’s nice to meet you Alana, please follow me.” Alana grabbed her purse and slow followed Carter. She looked around as they walked through the corridor. Then she quickly brought her attention back to Carter checking him out from the back, she eyeballed his muscular body with a devilish smile on her face, running her fingers through her hair, flashing her eyes from side to side. “Here’s your office Alana, please make yourself comfortable, and if you need anything don’t hesitate to call me, this is my extension.” Alana made herself comfortable in the small, but cozy office.

Hours had passed and Alana was busy working, when she noticed that Carter was staring at her from across the way. Alana smiled as she ran her fingers through her hair, putting her hand under chin pretending that she was looking at the monitor. Carter continued to stare at Alana making here feel as though he was undressing her with his eyes, but Alana continued to look at the monitor ignoring the way Carter was making her feel, and before she knew it Carter was standing in the door way. He startled her when he said: “Hey, Alana would you like to take a break for some lunch?” “Sure Carter, do you know of any good places?” “Of course I do.” They headed out to lunch, but Carter couldn’t help but to notice how beautiful Alana really was. He loved the fact that she was tall, slender, and sexy with thick long curly brown hair. He so badly wanted to taste her juicy plumped lips, but Carter knew that his thoughts were unprofessional; so he just stared at her rubbing his chin making Alana feel even more uncomfortable once again with his burning stares. Alana asked: “Carter are you okay?” “Yeah.” Alana looked at him and then touched up her lips with her hot tamale red lipstick. Carter’s eye widen as she ran the lipstick across her plumped lips.

As they were heading back to the office Carter made Alana feel more and more uncomfortable with his cold stares and his weird actions. Alana started to become afraid, but she didn’t want it to show, so she laughed and agreed with whatever Carter said. Fear consumed her when they entered the elevator. Alana felt that something wasn’t right, and she didn’t want to ride the elevator with Carter, but she stepped on any way pushing the button for the 24th floor, smiling to cover up her fear. Carter looked at her with a blank stare in his eyes as they grow darker. Alana clichéd her teeth and staring back at Carter, then suddenly Carter started to come toward Alana. Alana’s eyes widen as she moved back to the corner of the elevator trying to move away from Carter. Carter moved in the same direction as Alana raising his hands, Alana eyes got bigger as she screamed, and then she fainted.

Me + Family + God = Joy

ME - Created from the rib of man. Birth through the canal of a blessed woman of God, which created a FAMILY.

FAMILY - Father, Mother & 5 other kids came through that same canal of blessings. Where we walk by faith, not by sight through the blessings of GOD.

GOD - The Creator of Me + Family ordained to be who we are today; believers, worshipers, teachers & givers. Who honors the Might High God that brings JOY.

JOY - The joy of the Lord is our strenght... Nehemiah 8:10

ME+ FAMILY+ GOD = Us Showing Our Love To Everyone.

Time With You

When I say: "Time With you." I mean time spend on vacation with my family. We often time don't take vacations with family, because of lack of money, no vacation time from work or maybe we just can't stand spending 1 or 2 weeks with family. Family is what makes us smile, love, share & enjoy all the beautiful God given things we have. I recently flew to Miami to spend precious time with my family, and that's when I met one of the most prettiest chocolatest little 6 year old girl for the first time. My grandniece Paula, and she is adorable we talked, laughed, played & she showed me all the latest dances.

Now if I had not taken time out for a vacation I would not have had this chance to meet my grandniece. See that's why it's important that we take time to vacation with family, so we can meet all the newest members of the family. I am having so much fun enjoying my family that I have decided to extend my vacation time here in Miami.

Take a vacation with your family and you will have the time of your life meeting & greeting from the oldest & youngest family members. It will definitely be a unforgettable moment.

ShoYoLuv to your family by taking a vacation with them.

Domestic Violence & Guns

When does it end?

Today is Wednesday, April 14th my sister 53th birthday a day of joy and celebration for my family, but.... NO

Just one block over from where I live on the Southwest side of Chicago a shooting accrued on the 7200 block of Mozart Street where I take my dog walking at 5am every morning. This morning as Kofi & I turned the corner the area was filled with cops, news reporters, helicopters, and the entire block taped off with yellow crime tape letting Kofi & I know that something serious has happened. I stopped to ask one the male reporters: "What happened?'

Reporter: " There was a domestic violence shooting in the home of 7248 and 4 people was killed."

That shook me up a a little, because I've lived on Francisco for 15 years, and this is the first time something like this has ever happened. I'm was shock to hear such news, because this is a day of celebration for my family, and just on the next block someone is morning the death of 4 family members. I'm stun by how close this killing is to my house & family.

So I ask:

1. Why is it so ease for people to get a gun?

2. Where or who are providing these guns?

3. Who's responsible for the cities gun control?

4. Are these guns being sold through our city police department.

What do I think? Hmmm

Pray for the victims & the person who has allegedly did this shooting.

Peace & love

Why Do We Do The Things We Do

I've often wondered; why we do the things we do? Is it because we just don't care? Or we have so little respect for ourselves and others that it makes us do the most degrading, outrageous and stupidest things. Is it that we don't take the time to think about the consequence behind our actions? I'm shaking and scratching my head as I write this.... Disappointment is hurtful. What I'm about the write may not have anything to do with this subject (I will not go into details... Sorry), but any-way I came upon a incident that really disappointed me. I felt a disgust come over me that made me feel hatred, dislike and I didn't want to see this person in my sight. I also felt an outrage of wanting to beat the hell out of this person until a peace & joy consumed my hurting feelings (I had forgiven though).

All though my desire to find the answer will not be fulfilled through my writing, reading or asking questions. I guess through my life experience, I'll really never find the answer or understand why we do the things we do.

My guess is that we just don't give a damn...

Live, love & laugh ya'll

Spring Up Into Success

Spring is coming and we need to spring up into doing a new things by letting go of all the negative people & things that hold us back from reaching our goals toward success... Check this out: You can only complete your goals toward success by focusing on the things that are knowledgeable & helpful, do not allow the simple things to be a hindering force. I often tell my nieces & nephews to spring up(swim) hard and fast to stay above the water without drowning. Meaning: Staying on top of the game starts with a good education & leadership.

Spring up into success through the power of meditation, acknowledging God, hard work, encouraging others, and focusing on the importance of being educated for success. Now there you have it so.... SPRING UP INTO YOUR SUCCESS!!!

For The Love of Real Love

How many times can we say I love you? Not enough times to get people to understand the true meaning of love. Love is not the material things we have or give to others. Love is not just a hug or kiss for your loved one's. Love is not having relations with your husband, wife, boyfriend or girlfriend. Love is not a gift on Valentine's Day. Love is not gazing into you mates eyes or reading each others mind. Love is not a horse carriage ride through the Downtown Chicago area. Love is not sailing on Lake Michigan under the moonlight. Love is not dressing in sexy clothes to impress your mate. Love is not giving up you virginity. Love is not marrying for his or her money. Love it not abusive. Love is not cursing out your mate & the kids. Love is not telling your best friend or friends about your mate. Love is not dating a married man or woman. Love is not leaving your wife or husband for another man or woman. Love is not being a bad mother or father. Love is not being controlling...etc.

But I believe real love is; Patient & kind, love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. Love does not demand it's own way. Love is not irritable, and it keeps no record of when it has been wronged. It is never glad about injustice, but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never give up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

The gift that come from love is: Forgiveness, patience, kindness, love for truth, Love for justice, Love for the best in a person, loyalty at any cost, belief in a person no matter what.

Love has no room for Jealousy, envy, pride, haughty spirit, selfishness, rudeness, demand for one's own way, irritability, and grudges.

There you have it my take on what love is even though; Love is like a rumor everybody talks about it, but people aren't totally sure how to use it.

ShoYoLuv,
